The Beauty is in the details

superscreen

While yes, we all do look at and take in the overall impact and picture of a home, but when asked what it was a about a specific home that buyers liked, it inevitably always comes down to the details. The molding, the trim, the colors chosen, fixtures and even the textiles used.

Superscreen from East Coast Electrical Screening ads a whole new level of exterior interest. Old style screen may look ok when first installed but it is only a matter of time before you start to see snags, holes, rips, tears, and bowing so that when the wind blows you get rippling in the now not so tight in the frame screen.

Living in Florida, high winds and rain are a given. We are in hurricane central. Sticks, debris, high wind pressure all can damage normal metal screening. Once damaged, in come the insects. Mosquito season this year has been at its worst. Without good screening there is no spending time on your lanai or indoor/outdoor area.

It is because of these needs that SuperScreen was created. It is puncture resistant, mildew resistant, and even fire retardant which is great if you happen to grill out. The casing  is a slim 4.5” and can be mounted above or under any opening and if done during construction, completely recessed all together.

The housing is comprised of extruded aluminum which prevents damage during storms, even in hurricane strength winds, while the SuperScreen is rolled up inside of the casing and totally protected.

While your neighbors pool cage may be blowing down the road – your super screen will still be perfectly intact post storm.

East Coast Electricals’ Super Screen is perfect for more than pool caging and lanai use. We also regularly install garage doors, patios, decks, verandas, lanais, windows, French doors and even archways.

They can be motorized or manual so even if the power goes out you can still work your screening.

The New Standard for Outdoor Screens

superscreen

Superscreen is the screen of the future, only the beauty is that it’s here now. Standard metal mesh screening is limited. Once bent it weakens the fibers. Over time that causes rips and tears. These small openings can let in bugs and debris, and over time rip even more.

Superscreen is tear resistant, puncture resistant, mildew resistant, and even fire retardant which is key if you bbq on your lanai. SuperScreen outlasts traditional fiberglass screen material and is backed by a Ten Year Limited Warranty. Superscreen is also retractable. By making the decision to install, you aren’t limiting yourself to being enclosed all of the time.

Retractable screening rolls up discreetly inside of a thin non-conspicuously mounted housing. Motorization is also installable making retraction a breeze. Living in Florida, hurricane preparedness is a way of life. If you are a homeowner, making sure that your property is easily secured is important. Having retractable superscreens can save you from having to replace or repair your screening post hurricane.

These screens can install not only on porches and lanais but any window, archway, enclosure, breezeway or even garage. They are versatile and come in a wide range of colors.

The increased airflow can cut your electric bill by allowing the breeze to cool your home in the fall and winter months as well as increasing the quality of breathable air in your home.

Whether you are building a new home or retrofitting an existing one, when it comes to screening, SuperScreen is the way to go. We would love to give you a quote and show you how to maximize your homes true potential. Give us a call 888-41SCREEN or visit www.eastcoastelectricscreening.com

Are You and Your Home Protected from the Elements?

superscreen

Florida homes are meant to be enjoyed, inside and out, year round. Built with large lanai areas, porches, sunrooms, and a multitude of windows you can’t help soaking up the sun and sea air. The problem is, this natural beauty also comes with often times lack of shade, bugs and with our summer storms, wind blowing leaves and debris right in.

The answer is to have your home SuperScreened. Take these formerly open air areas and give yourself the versatility and option of enclosing at the push of a button with flush mounted retractable screens. They are custom fit to go over any opening to your home, from window screens to door coverings, garages, Roman archways, verandas, lanais, porches, even French double doors. Everything can be tinted or matched to the color of your choice or even add photo-realistic artwork for a creative flair.

SuperScreen is aptly named and far superior to traditional metal mesh screening which can rip, tear, fade and puncture very easily, needing cleaning and replacement often. SuperScreen is mildew resistant, puncture resistant, fire retardant, and has a ten-year limited warranty.

It can keep out the bugs so you can enjoy your time spent relaxing and entertaining and save you the trouble of constantly sweeping up. Additionally, these wonderful screens also help provide protection from the sun by way of shade filtering.

All screens retract into a slim housing which is mounted above or just under the openings when retrofitted and in new construction can be hidden completely. Unlike traditional caging, these will not see damage during storms.

Bug Transmitted Disease – Stop the Spread with SuperScreen!

mosquito

Florida is home to 12,000+ species of insects. Many of which do bite humans and pets if given the opportunity. Bug transmitted illness has been a hot topic in the news in recent years with the spread of Zika and the West Nile Virus by way of mosquito.

Let’s take a look at the top ranked “most likely to bite” category.

Coming in at #1: Mosquitos – Florida has been invaded by the Aedes aegypti (yellow fever mosquito) and the Asian Tiger Mosquito. They both and can carry a huge array of diseases.

#2. No-See-Ums:  These mini biting midges are a huge nuisance. they are hard to see and leave itchy red welts.

#3. Yellow Flies, Stable Flies, and Horse Flies – Mostly found in beach areas their bites sting like you have been pricked with a sewing needle.

#4 Fire Ants: Fire ants deliver a painful sting that often leaves a swollen pustule on the bite area.

#5 Ticks: The American Dog Tick is common in Florida. Though they do not carry Lyme’s disease as deer ticks do, they can carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Turlaremia. The Gulf Coast Tick also inhabits our land. It can transmit several pathogens to animal and human.

#7 Brown Recluse Spider: These think leggy spiders are toxic and their venom can rot chunks out of human flesh. If you are bitten please seek medical attention.

#8 Black Widow Spider: These spiders are also venomous and should be considered dangerous.

With all of these creepy crawly creatures around, how do you keep them at bay and out of your home?

Traditional Screen vs. Retractable Super Screen

Whether you are building a new home or modifying an existing structure, the right screen can make a world of difference in your indoor-outdoor experience as well as the overall lasting durability and lifespan of your open airflow environments.

Traditional screens have a multitude of drawbacks. They rip and tear easily forcing you to either patch, which can be unsightly or replace the entire screen which is costly and time-consuming. The metal mesh fabric is stiff and hard to clean and dirt and grime accumulate in the corners of each frame. Over time they look aged, tattered and detract from the overall look and feel of the home itself.

Open your home and reduce allergies

Allergies

While it’s true that airborne allergies can stem from outdoor particles such as pollen or grass, one of the biggest offenders is bad indoor air quality. This can easily result from unkempt air ducts, non-replaced filters on air conditioner units, pet dander, smoking and even mold or mildew inside of the home in high humidity areas.

Using air purifiers, washing bedding and blankets frequently, turning on exhaust fans in the kitchen and bath, regularly bathing pets, and even stationing open boxes of baking soda inconspicuously in your home can help keep contaminants at a minimum.

One of the very best ways to help keep air fresh is to create an open environment in which air can flow. Having motorized power screens made of Superscreen material installed on your home allow you to leave doors and windows open that normally would not be a source of cross breeze.

Unlike conventional window screens, East Coast Electrical Screening’s screens are retractable, either electronically or manually. All screens are custom fit to your home. Superscreen is mildew resistant and made of an incredibly strong and tightly woven material which helps to keep particulate from blowing into your home’s indoor air environment.

Why Super Screens® Are Super

There are many reasons why we use Super Screen® for our screening projects. Your screens are exposed to outdoor elements such as strong winds, rain, heat, and insects. We want our customers to have every confidence that the screens that we install will hold up to whatever mother nature can send their way!

The benefits of having Super Screen® installed includes the following:

  • They are puncture and tear proof. The very strong, yet lightweight woven strands are made from a new technology that stands up to tears and punctures. We are confident that it is nearly indestructible.
  • They are fade resistant. The sun in Florida can beat down on your screens causing fading and flaking. Super Screen® does not allow that kind of deterioration by using a special UV protectant. By maintaining its original color and filtering, your screens will remain looking brand new for a very long time.
  • They are mildew resistant. The fabric is treated with a special compound which resists growth of mildew. This is ideal for screens that cover lanais and pool cages.
  • They are very durable. Super Screen® is superior to the old fiberglass screens that lose elasticity. A seven yr. test of the screens proved that they held up to sunlight and weathering with only a loss of 1% in strength.
  • They stand up to pets. Claw marks are barely visible from cats and dogs, making the need to replace screens due to a scratch non-existent.
  • Super Screen® offers two sizes of mesh. Both of the sizes stop mosquitos and insects from entering your living space. The tightest mesh that we offer blocks out 50% of the sun’s harmful UV rays!

Super Screen® is perfect for screen doors, windows, pool cages, screened in patios, lanais, and patios. We are so confident in this product. It even comes with an unprecedented 10 yr. limited warranty! If you are need of screen repair, replacement or installation of a new screen, please contact East Coast Electric Screening. Super Screen vs. Regular Screen

With updated modernized architecture in Florida homes, air flow has been a big consideration.  Windows have gotten bigger, multiple tier sliding glass doors have often been installed, large lanai and patio areas included, Roman arches span upwards making areas feel larger, and double French doors open wide breaking up the space and letting fresh air in.

Up until recently traditional mesh screens comprised of metal wire, fiberglass or other synthetic fibers stretched inside of a wooden or metal frame were the only choice to cover these areas if the home owner wanted to be able to open the house up, especially during buggy seasons.

They do a great job, the problem becomes that over time the screen can get stretched, frayed, pulled, snagged,  may have small holes in it or even rip. At that point they then need to be patched, replaced entirely or rescreened which requires measuring, cutting, a special hand tool and rubberized splining. This replacement technique looks easier than it actually is and can take some time and patience if you opt to do it yourself.

If you choose aluminum or fiberglass screens the biggest issue is that the crimp along the splined edge doesn’t hold because the screen itself is too flexible, which leaves you with lose fitting screens which look sloppy and unprofessional. Galvanized steel is a better choice, giving you a tight fit, but it will still succumb to the elements over time giving your home a more weathered aged look.

The best choice is to update your living space with the addition of SuperScreen. SuperScreen fabric has an extrusion-coated polyester core yarn, which results in vastly superior strength that is 300% stronger than other screen types and extends the life of the product.

Benefits: Superscreen is unlike anything that has previously been on the market.

  1. Homeowners who were finding it necessary to replace their screens every 3-5 years no longer have to do so
  2. Tighter weave, keeping even the tiniest of bugs out
  3. The tensile strength and wind resistance is perfect for use here in Florida as windblown debris just bounces off rather than causing damage
  4. Pets who scratch at the door to go out no longer snag and tear the screen
  5. Mildew resistant so there is never a need to bleach
  6. UV fade resistant
  7. Fire retardant
